Slovak (+421) verification codes: picking the right OTP Route tool
OTP Route receives Slovakia (+421) SMS verification codes on one-time OTP Gateway numbers, readable in the dashboard or pushed to your systems through API polling and signed webhooks. Pricing starts from $0.20 per code depending on the service, and if nothing reaches the number inside the 20-minute window the full charge is returned to your wallet.
One-time number or long-term line: which does a Slovak project need?
Start with how often the number has to receive a code.
- Once: a sign-up test, a QA run, a fresh account on your own product. That is the OTP Gateway, a +421 number for a single verification, held for 20 minutes and paid only if the code arrives.
- Repeatedly over months: a staging login that keeps asking for 2FA, a shared recovery number, a support line. That calls for a Dedicated Number, which OTP Route sells only in the United States and Canada, from $1.95/month.
There is no self-serve long-term Slovak number. If a +421 line matters to your operation, email [email protected]; whether one can be provided depends on local regulation and is not assured. Many teams pair one-time +421 numbers for market-specific tests with a US or Canadian dedicated line for anything that needs continuity. Our comparison of temporary vs dedicated numbers weighs both options in more depth.
How does the Slovakia OTP API flow run end to end?
Authenticate with a Bearer key from the Developer console (prefix or_live_) and call https://otproute.com/api/v1. Slovakia's country id is sk.
- Resolve ids from
GET /api/v1/servicesandGET /api/v1/countries. - Check
GET /api/v1/prices?country=sk&service=<id>for the current price and route availability. - Order with
POST /api/v1/activations, sending{"service": "whatsapp", "country": "sk"}as the JSON body. - Type the returned +421 number into the screen under test.
- Take the code from a webhook (
activation.sms_received) or by pollingGET /api/v1/activations/{id}, and cancel withPOST /api/v1/activations/{id}/cancelif the job aborts.
Webhook deliveries carry X-OTPRoute-Signature: t=<unix>,v1=<hex>. Recompute HMAC-SHA256 of <t>.<raw body> with your endpoint secret, reject old timestamps, and de-duplicate on the activation id. Account limits are 10 keys, 5 webhook endpoints and 300 requests per minute. The OTP API integration guide walks through it step by step.
What do Slovak numbers look like in E.164?
Inside Slovakia, numbers are dialed with a trunk 0, and mobiles are typically written as 09xx xxx xxx. Internationally the zero is dropped, giving +421 9xx xxx xxx, nine national digits after the country code. Normalise to that form on input, because users paste both styles. Keep an eye on the neighbour as well: Czech numbers start with +420, and a one-digit slip between the two codes is an easy validation bug to miss when both markets share a form.
Slovak is the official language, and its diacritics (č, š, ž, ľ, ô and others) can push an SMS template into Unicode encoding, which shortens the segment length. If you localise OTP messages, send one through a real +421 route and read it on the handset.
Why test sign-up flows on +421 routes?
Slovakia is an EU member state that uses the euro, so it often ships in the same release wave as other Central European markets. Teams reach for a +421 number for testing when they add Slovak localisation, roll out a fintech or marketplace product under EU rules, or serve customers whose lives span Slovakia, Czechia and Austria. Running the real sign-up flow over a Slovak route surfaces country-specific bugs, such as phone validation, translated templates and regional rate limits, that a domestic test never hits; that is where country-level OTP routing earns its keep. The fintech onboarding page shows how this fits regulated sign-up flows.
Which services can send codes to a Slovak number?
The sk catalog currently counts more than 1,600 services. Popular choices open right now include WhatsApp, Google (Gmail & YouTube), Microsoft & Outlook, LinkedIn, Uber, Amazon, eBay, Discord, Signal, Viber, Netflix, Airbnb, Claude and ChatGPT (OpenAI). Inventory changes over the day, which is why the API reports live availability rather than a fixed list.
Prefer clicking to coding? In the dashboard, select the service, select Slovakia, confirm the price, place the order, and the code appears on the activation card once delivered.
No code on the +421 number: now what?
The 20-minute window works in your favour: if nothing arrives, or you cancel, the whole amount returns to your wallet. Use that rather than fighting it.
- Wait out the window instead of placing a new order every few seconds.
- Come back later, or run the identical Slovak test via a second service route.
- Check whether the service accepts virtual numbers; some reject them as a matter of policy.
- Verify that your client sends the number without the trunk zero.
Patterns for diagnosing misses are collected in reducing failed OTP deliveries.
How do wallet, invoices and sandbox work?
There is one prepaid USD wallet and no monthly plan. Fund it by card or with USDT/USDC; each top-up and number purchase produces a PDF invoice by email. Developers can ask for a sandbox switch on a development account, which returns simulated numbers and codes so the whole SMS verification API integration can run in CI before real funds are used. Current rates sit on the pricing page. Use every number in line with the relevant service's terms and OTP Route's Acceptable Use Policy.
Frequently asked questions
Can I check my app's Slovak sign-up flow without a Slovak SIM card?
Yes. Order a +421 number from the OTP Gateway, enter it in your form and read the code in the dashboard or over the API.
What is the Slovakia country id in the API?
It is sk, used in both GET /api/v1/prices and POST /api/v1/activations.
Is there a long-term +421 line I can keep?
Not as a self-serve product. Dedicated Numbers are US and Canada only, from $1.95/month; for Slovakia, email [email protected] to ask, with no promise of availability.
How much is a Slovakia verification number?
From $0.20 per code, varying by service. The dashboard and the prices endpoint show the exact amount before you commit.
Do Slovak OTP messages arrive in Slovak?
It depends on the service. Some localise their templates into Slovak and others send English text, so your parser should look for the digits rather than fixed wording.
Does the 20-minute window apply to every +421 order?
Yes. Each activation is held for 20 minutes, and you are charged only if a code arrives in that time.
