🚀 SaaS Onboarding

Ship signup and 2FA flows that work for every new user

For SaaS products, the first minutes of the user journey decide whether a trial becomes an account. Phone verification and SMS-based two-factor authentication add security, but they also add points of failure: number validation that rejects real formats, codes that arrive too late, and recovery flows nobody has tested since launch.

OTP Route lets SaaS teams exercise these flows with real numbers. Engineering can automate signup and 2FA enrolment tests using the REST API and signed webhooks, while product managers and support staff can use the dashboard to request numbers and read codes without writing code. Dedicated US and Canadian numbers suit long-lived demo, sandbox or internal accounts that need a stable number for SMS and browser calling. Activations are billed per use from a USD wallet, and live inventory varies by service and time.

The problem

⚠️

SMS 2FA enrolment and recovery flows break quietly after unrelated releases

⚠️

Demo and internal accounts end up tied to employees' personal phones

⚠️

International trial users hit number-validation bugs that never appear in local testing

How OTP Route helps

🧭

Signup and 2FA automation

Automate the full journey from signup to two-factor enrolment and login. Request a number, submit it, receive the code by webhook and complete the step, all within your existing end-to-end test framework, so regressions surface before customers report them.

⚡

Stable numbers for demo accounts

Assign a dedicated US or Canadian virtual number to demo, sandbox or internal admin accounts. The number stays with your organisation, receives SMS codes and supports browser calling, so access does not depend on any one employee's phone.

🔐

International validation

Use numbers from the countries your trial users come from to confirm that formatting, validation and localised templates behave correctly. This catches issues such as variable-length numbers or shared country codes before they block signups.

📈

Access for non-engineers

Product, support and sales engineers can request numbers and read codes in the dashboard during demos or manual QA. Every activation is recorded in your account history, so usage remains visible and easy to review later.

A typical workflow

Identify the signup, 2FA enrolment, login and recovery steps that use SMS

Automate activations with the REST API in your end-to-end tests

Receive codes via signed webhooks and complete each step

Assign dedicated US/CA numbers to long-lived demo or internal accounts

Monitor activation history in the dashboard to catch delivery regressions

FAQ

Can we test SMS-based 2FA recovery flows?
Yes. Recovery is often the least-tested path. For recovery tests that need the same number over time, use a dedicated US or Canadian number, since temporary activations are designed for one-off verification and the same temporary number may not be available again later.
Do non-technical team members need API access?
No. The dashboard lets users request numbers, view incoming messages and manage dedicated numbers without writing code. Engineers can use the REST API and webhooks for automation, and both approaches draw from the same USD wallet and appear in the same activation history.
Is SMS 2FA still worth testing if we offer authenticator apps?
Many SaaS products keep SMS as an option or fallback for users who cannot use authenticator apps. As long as the SMS path exists, it needs testing, because failures there typically affect users who are already locked out and contacting your support team.
