Moroccan (+212) phone verification for teams that ship and operate there
Yes, OTP Route can receive Moroccan (+212) SMS verification codes: the OTP Gateway assigns a one-time Moroccan number for the service you pick, and the code shows up in the dashboard and is pushed to your backend by signed webhook or fetched by REST polling. Pricing starts at $0.20 per code, and the charge is returned automatically when nothing arrives within 20 minutes.
Is one employee's phone holding up your Moroccan rollout?
Companies that run support desks or regional operations out of Casablanca, Rabat or Tangier often end up with the same weak spot: business accounts registered to a team member's personal +212 mobile. When that person is on leave, nobody can log in. When they leave the company, the account goes with them.
Product teams hit a different version of it. The Moroccan sign-up journey needs a local number, QA sits in another country, and the only working SIM belongs to a contractor. OTP Route removes that dependency. A verification number is requested on demand, the code is captured centrally, and access no longer hinges on whose pocket the phone is in. Our operations teams page covers the account-hygiene side in more depth.
Which services work with a Morocco verification number?
More than 1,700 services can currently be routed to Moroccan numbers. In today's snapshot the familiar names include Telegram, Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, Signal, Viber, Amazon, AliExpress, eBay, X (Twitter) and Claude.
Availability is live rather than fixed, because our carrier partners add and withdraw capacity through the day. Before a test run, ask the API what is on offer right now instead of hard-coding a service list.
What should a validator expect from a +212 number?
Inside Morocco, mobiles are written with a trunk 0, so a typical number starts 06 or 07 and runs to ten digits. Internationally that zero is dropped: the E.164 form is +212 plus nine digits, usually beginning with 6 or 7.
- Normalise every input to
+212XXXXXXXXXbefore saving; a user might type the domestic or the international form. - Keep the
+212and the leading6/7in your mask, but do not pin the range so tightly that new allocations fail validation. - Expect mixed-language messages. Arabic and Amazigh are the official languages and French is common in business and services, so a single code can arrive in Arabic script, French or English. Your parser should pull digits out of Unicode text and tolerate right-to-left content around them.
Localisation QA in Morocco is often less about the OTP itself and more about how the surrounding UI renders in Arabic and French at once.
How do non-developers order a Moroccan code from the dashboard?
Support managers and growth staff can do it in a browser without touching an API:
- Create an account with your email and a 6-digit email code, or with Google sign-in, and turn on TOTP two-factor.
- Top up the wallet.
- Open the OTP Gateway, choose the service, then choose Morocco.
- Check the price shown on screen and confirm.
- Paste the +212 number into the app that sent you the prompt and request the SMS.
- Read the code from the activation card once it lands.
The number is for that single code. It is not a line you keep.
How do engineers automate the Morocco OTP API?
OTP routing for Morocco is exposed through the same SMS verification API used for every other country. Generate a key in the Developer console (they begin or_live_, and you can hold up to 10) and call https://otproute.com/api/v1 with it as a Bearer token. Morocco's country id is ma.
The usual chain is GET /api/v1/prices?country=ma&service=<id> to confirm price and availability, POST /api/v1/activations with {"service": "telegram", "country": "ma"} to obtain a number, then either a webhook for activation.sms_received or polling GET /api/v1/activations/{id}. Cancel stuck orders with POST /api/v1/activations/{id}/cancel.
On the webhook side, check the X-OTPRoute-Signature value (t=<unix>,v1=<hex>) by computing HMAC-SHA256 of the timestamp, a dot and the untouched raw body with the endpoint secret. Drop requests whose timestamp is old, and make the handler idempotent on the activation id. The developer hub links to reference material and SDK notes.
What can we try when a Moroccan code doesn't arrive?
- Give the activation its full 20 minutes. If the window expires empty, you are refunded in full without doing anything.
- Confirm the target service accepts virtual numbers; some do not, regardless of country.
- Retry a little later, or place a new order for the same service so it lands on a different number.
- Space out retries. Firing new orders every few seconds wastes balance and rarely helps.

Long-term lines, wallet and sandbox for Morocco
There is no self-serve Dedicated Number for Morocco. Those long-term lines exist only for the United States and Canada, from $1.95/month. If a Moroccan line is essential for your business, write to [email protected]; whether it can be arranged depends on local rules.
Billing is pay as you go from one USD wallet: no subscription, top-ups by card or USDT/USDC, and a PDF invoice for each top-up. Development accounts can be switched to sandbox on request so the whole integration can be rehearsed with simulated numbers and codes. Use OTP Route for your own legitimate products and accounts, within each service's terms and our Acceptable Use Policy.
Frequently asked questions
Can I receive Moroccan SMS OTP codes without being in Morocco?
Yes. The +212 number is issued through the OTP Gateway and the code reaches you in the dashboard or via the API, wherever your team sits.
What is the country id for Morocco in the OTP Route API?
Use ma as the country value in price lookups and activation requests.
Will my team's personal numbers stay off our Moroccan business accounts?
For sign-up and one-time verification, yes: the code goes to an OTP Gateway number instead. Accounts that need repeated logins later are better served by a long-term line, which is only self-serve in the US and Canada.
Why does a Moroccan code sometimes come in Arabic and sometimes in French?
Each app chooses its own message language, often based on device or account settings. Extracting the digits avoids depending on either.
How do I format a +212 number for testing?
Send it in E.164: +212 followed by nine digits, without the domestic trunk zero.
What happens to my money if the Moroccan number gets no SMS?
After the 20-minute window ends, or when you cancel, the whole amount is credited back to your wallet.
Can I rehearse the Morocco integration without paying?
Ask for sandbox on a development account. It produces simulated numbers and codes so your flow can be tested from order to webhook.
