Gabonese (+241) verification codes for testing and launch work
OTP Route lets you receive Gabonese (+241) SMS verification codes on a one-time number from its OTP Gateway, read either in the dashboard or by your systems through the REST API and signed webhooks. A code costs from $0.20, the exact figure is quoted live before you order, and nothing is charged if the SMS fails to arrive within 20 minutes.
Is a one-time +241 number enough, or do you need a permanent line?
Start by sorting your use case into one of two buckets.
One-off verification. A QA engineer checking the French-language sign-up screen, a growth team confirming that phone onboarding works before a Libreville campaign, a CI job that runs the registration path nightly. Each of these needs a code once, then never again. That is what the OTP Gateway is built for.
An account that must log in repeatedly. A shared staging login, a recovery number for a team account, a support line. Here you want a Dedicated Virtual Number, but those are available only in the United States and Canada, from $1.95/month, bought instantly from the dashboard.
OTP Route does not sell a self-serve long-term Gabonese line. If you have a real operational need, email [email protected]; the team can look into it, though local rules decide what is possible and nothing is promised.
Why do product teams verify flows on a Gabonese route?
French is the official language, so Gabon is a natural market for checking French copy, accented characters and date formats on phone-verification screens. Companies expanding across French-speaking Central Africa often include it in their first wave of localisation QA, and fintech or marketplace teams sometimes need to confirm that their onboarding behaves correctly when a user arrives with a +241 number rather than a European one.
For the inbound SMS itself, expect codes in French or English depending on the service and the account language. Accented letters can change how a message is encoded, so match the digits with a pattern instead of relying on fixed character positions. If your launch plan spans several neighbouring markets, our article on country routing for OTP explains how to organise the matrix.
Which services are available on +241 routes?
Gabon currently shows more than 1,500 services. A sample of the ones teams test most often: Telegram, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, Facebook, Google (Gmail & YouTube), Microsoft & Outlook, Amazon, Discord, Snapchat, Viber and Claude.
The list moves during the day because routes come and go. The prices endpoint returns availability alongside the price, so check it immediately before ordering.
Ordering a Gabon verification number from the dashboard
People who do not work with APIs can complete the whole thing in the browser:
- Sign in and open the OTP Gateway.
- Pick the service and choose Gabon.
- Review the price, which is displayed before you confirm.
- Copy the +241 number into the app you are checking.
- Watch the activation; the code appears there when it lands.
Cancel if you no longer need it and the money returns to the wallet. Operations staff who do this regularly may find the operations teams page useful.
How do engineers automate +241 OTP routing?
Create a Bearer key (prefix or_live_) in the Developer console and call https://otproute.com/api/v1. Gabon's country id is ga.
GET /api/v1/countriesandGET /api/v1/servicesgive you the ids; both are safe to cache.GET /api/v1/prices?country=ga&service=<id>confirms the cost and whether a route is open.POST /api/v1/activationswith{"service": "instagram", "country": "ga"}returns an activation id and the number.GET /api/v1/activations/{id}reports status and the code;POST /api/v1/activations/{id}/cancelreleases it early.GET /api/v1/balanceis worth calling at suite start so an empty wallet fails fast.
Webhooks remove the need to poll. Subscribe to activation.sms_received, activation.expired and activation.cancelled, verify the X-OTPRoute-Signature header by recomputing HMAC-SHA256 over <t>.<raw body>, reject old timestamps, and key writes on the activation id so retries do no harm. Each account is capped at 10 API keys, 5 webhook endpoints and 300 requests per minute. See the developer overview for the full SMS verification API.
Storing Gabonese numbers and handling missing codes
Rather than hard-coding a digit count for Gabon in your validator, store numbers exactly as the API returns them in E.164, starting with +241, and lean on a maintained phone-number library for parsing user input. That avoids rejecting real customers whose local formatting differs from your assumption.
If a code fails to appear, remember the 20-minute window and the refund rule: you pay only when the SMS arrives, otherwise the full amount comes back automatically. Then:
- give the activation its full time before cancelling;
- try again later or via another service route;
- confirm the service accepts virtual numbers for that step;
- space out retries instead of re-ordering in a loop.
Always respect each service's terms of use. OTP Route's Acceptable Use Policy covers every order.
Wallet, invoices and a sandbox for integration tests
There is no subscription. You fund one prepaid USD wallet by card or USDT/USDC, each top-up comes with a PDF invoice, and activations draw from that balance. When you are still wiring things up, ask for your development account to be moved to sandbox; it hands back simulated numbers and codes so you can test end to end without spending anything. Rates are explained on the pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I receive Gabon SMS OTP codes without a SIM in the country?
Yes. OTP Route's OTP Gateway issues a +241 number that you use once, and the code is delivered to your dashboard, your webhook or a polling request.
What id does the API use for Gabon?
Use ga as the country value, for example in GET /api/v1/prices?country=ga&service=<id>.
Is there a long-term Gabonese number I can rent?
No self-serve option exists; dedicated lines are a US and Canada product from $1.95/month. You may email [email protected] to ask, with no promise of availability.
What language will the verification SMS be in?
Usually French or English, depending on the service and the language set on the account. Parse the digits rather than the wording.
Do I lose money if no code is delivered?
No. Without a code inside the 20-minute window, or after a cancel, the full charge goes back to your wallet.
Can our CI pipeline use +241 numbers?
Yes. Call the activation endpoints from your pipeline and receive codes via webhook; sandbox mode lets you rehearse the wiring before real orders.
